Abraham and Thakore is one of India’s most successful and respected brand for fashion, accessories as well as home textile products. The business of fashion is changing in India and Abraham & Thakore seems to be one of the few legacy brands readily exploring all options, even while hanging on to core values. The design label was initially established in 1992 by David Abraham & Rakesh Thakore, graduates of the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad who was later joined by Kevin Nigli a design graduate of NIFT New Delhi.

Creative Director David Abraham, reinvents the label each season to keep it contemporary, directional, and relevant both in India and Overseas while Director Rakesh Thakore overlooks the design and development of hand-woven fabrics. A&T started by selling textile-based accessories like kimonos and scarves, then went into home collections and, finally, fashion, at The Conran Shop, a high-end curated boutique in London founded in 1974. A key aspect of their collection is the modern synergy between fashion and lifestyle with a unifying vision for the consumers.

Each Abraham & Thakore collection continues the exploration of developing a quiet and modern design voice while simultaneously drawing on the rich traditional vocabulary of Indian design and craft. The design sensibility is low key yet highly distinctive, with a strong respect for material, form, and craft. A&T reiterates the belief that real luxury lies in a specially crafted product in limited numbers of high quality. They very simply did what they liked to do and created season after season. In time they found their niche and cut to today, they are still riding high. Each Abraham & Thakore collection continues the exploration of developing a quiet and modern design voice while simultaneously drawing on the rich traditional vocabulary of Indian design and craft.

Collections presented each season represent the very modern synergy between fashion and lifestyle with a unifying vision for the way the contemporary urban consumer dresses and lives - whether in New Delhi, London, or Tokyo. Each season both the fashion and home textile collections are presented to international buyers in prestigious trade salons in Paris, namely Tranoi and Scenes d'Interieur, Maison & Objet. In India, the collection is presented biannually at the India Fashion Week, New Delhi.
